Apple created a new strategy called the good-better-best pricing for the new iPhone 5s and the 5C . The new model provides faster processing and a better camera. The iPhone 5S starts at $199 with a 24 month contract and $649 for those who do not want a contract. The iPhone 5C starts at $99 dollars with the contract and $549 off contract. The author chooses to refer to Apples idea of having the customer choose the price that works best for them to a "early bird, regular and chefs table." Meaning, that you can choose how you want to pay and Apple will compromise with you. Large wireless carriers like Verizon are upset at Apple because Apple is disrupting their system. Verizon and other companies like AT&T have to buy the iPhone's in order to sell them. To get there money back they try to trick their customers with a two year plan so they are trapped and have to pay monthly. Now, Apple is offering 5C's with no contract at a very reasonable cost. This messes up large wireless companies because now you can buy an iPhone from AT&T without a contract and get Sprints wireless service because it is cheaper. Investors were mad at the iPhone 5C's pricing because of how high they were. The investors felt that the 5C should be cheaper so people would be more persuaded to buy them at the price of $400 rather than a higher price of $549. I do not agree with Apples pricing strategy. I think it persuades the customer to buy the 5C and the 5S very well but, the no contract pay is very high. I would offer the same amount of pay for the iPhone's with contracts but i would make the iPhone's without contracts $100 less. Even though this does not help big wireless companies it will make a lot of money for Apple with the price lowered. I would suggest that Apple keep their prices the same but meet in the middle with the wireless when it comes to having no contract. I feel that the less iPhone's cost the more people will buy them. As more people buy iPhone's wireless companies can make more money off of the phones rather than the contract.
